Producer agreement example

What does a producer agreement actually look like? Here are practical examples for common deal structures.

Example 1: Producer co-ownership

Example 2: Work-for-hire (flat fee)

Work-for-hire summary

Hiring Party: Morgan Lee

Example 3: Points deal

In a points deal, the producer receives a percentage of the master recording royalties (not the composition). This is separate from songwriting ownership. A producer might receive 3–5 points on the master while also owning 20% of the composition. The composition split goes on the split sheet. The points deal is a separate agreement.

Which do you need?

Co-ownership: create a split sheet. Work-for-hire: create a work-for-hire agreement. Not sure what percentage: use the producer split calculator.
